I am helping a friend out finishing up his brake system. He had put on a power front disc assembly from I think a 72 Olds. He needs a new master cylinder but all we can find is one that requires a shorter push rod. His existing cylinder and booster has a longer push rod, about 1 1/4 "longer. Can a shorter rod be purchased or is there a master cylinder that will work with his longer rod?

Thanks for the help

Can't he find one for the application he got the booster from? If all else fails, how about cutting down the pushrod and rounding the end with a grinder? I've shortened pushrods before, not that big of a deal. Obviously, you'd want a measurement of how long it needs to stick out at rest from the booster before you go cutting. I just cut down the opposite side on one this morning. Had to shorten it, thread it for the clevis to the brake pedal for my buddy's '69 Firebird.
