After reading many threads on this subject, I decided to follow the advice of some of the resto shops here on this forum that do this for a living: Use plastic media and remove the EDP coating before using these Asian panels.
Well, today I picked up my panels and as these shops have said: low and behold there was slight surface rust areas under that EDP!!! The plastic media will not touch rust (but remove the coating), so it was obvious to where the light rust was. I had 2 panels media blasted, one was a Dynacorn piece, and the other was not (but still a Taiwan piece). BOTH pieces had light surface rust exposed once the black EDP was removed. Now I can DA the rust off and proceed with good metal.....well, Taiwan metal that is
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to you pro's here for the advice to remove the EDP!!!
