I am trying to install an 1"1/8 sway bar on my 66" with the engine out.The new poly bushings and bolt are longer than mine and it's hitting the upper control arm. When I put the engine in will it lower enough for it to clear.

It should clear but when I installed mine (bar) I reused the shorter bolt and spacer that was on the car originally

hi ,
Thanks for the reply. I thought of that but the new poly bushings are too big(long) to fit on the old bolt.I got the bolt in from the top down but
the head of the bolt still hits on the ball joint so that would leave no room for travel.I didn't know if having the engine out made a difference ?

Cut the sleeves to the length you need, and cut and rethread/clean up the bolts.

Thanks !
How much space will I need between the upper arm and the bolt for travel ?

See if you can get another set of links, changeing the link distance will have a major effect on how the car handles.under steer/over steer.I help a guy with a stock car and when he changes the link a 1/4 " it make a big difference in steering.I would get the proper sized links. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Will the distance between the control arms change when I put the engine and transmission back in ?
Don't really want to cut or buy new links if that is going to happen . graemlins/clonk.gif
