It's been a year since I removed the booster from my '70 model. Can someone refresh my memory on something? It seems there may have been a plastic collar or something that goes between the booster boot and the firewall. The reason I ask is that the boot doesn't seem to completly seal the hole in the firewall.

Jim - it may be different on a 70, but my new booster (now it's my old booster) came with a felt disc that fit inside the boot as well. Other than that, the boot just butted up against the firewall, and that was that.

It's not really sealing anything. It's just to keep engine compartment heat out of the car, I think. And probably dust out of the back of the booster. Don't expect a seal capable of holding vaccum or anything.
Tim.
Ground up sells the white plastic sleeve you're remembering.

Danny, That sleeve does look familiar. Now if I can only find where I put it when I took things apart. However, after looking at things, the boot would probably seal the hole well enough alone. I think the sleeve probably stops the boot from getting cut up by the edges of the firewall hole over time. Thanks for all the replies!
