My daughter wants to buy or build a good gaming computer WOW and some other cpu and graphic intensive games that I don't recall. Any out of the box suggestions or components? I can load XP but don't have Vista or windows 7. TIA Pete

It's definitely possible, just have to look for the right components and shop around. I'm actually working on something of a similar line for a friend of mine, once I have the component list I'll throw it up. The tower should be in the $700 range.

Look forward to the specs, Vista or & better than XP? Thanks Pete

I'd use Windows 7 as an OS, XP will work but it's better to just take advantage of what 7 offers.

Check out this page.. Scroll down and check out the gaming rigs. They have a few for less than 1,000.

I built a gaming computer for about that. I would check the specials at microcenter and newegg. Usually you can score great deals with their sales.

Absolutely doable. Utilize as many parts as you currently have. Mouse, Keyboard, speakers, etc. If you have to buy a monitor and software (Windows 7 for example), then you'll likely go over $1000.

A few years back I did a entry level computer for $730, most of it was the morther board and cpu. The motherboard came with a cheap pci video card which wasn't all that great for games. I have since changed out the mother board cpu and video card which would bring my total cost to $900. I run Assus mother board and an Assus video card 9400. If i had the funds I would add a water cooling system. My tower is a Tsunami Dreams with a total of three cooling fans from the factory. I run three different os all on their own hard drive. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj278/monte70car/computer/003.jpg

From what I've seen liquid cooling isn't really necessary, even on rather high end systems. a few months back I built a tower for a friend, Quad core, 4870x2 card, etc. with the Cooler Master case he's running he hasn't seen the CPU budge over 40 Degrees.

I'd actually be interested to see the difference it would make on different systems.

If you start doing some extreme overclocking and messing with voltage levels... the liquid cooling will come into play otherwise, air cooling works great in most situations.

Completely forgot about overclocking, in that case I could see it.

But I think if your doing liquid cooling, GO BIG:

Liquid nitrogen cooling. :p

Yep... 5GHZ is impressive overclocking.

Around here. There are a few good computer shops that build computers and are actually quite reasonable price wise.

Not when its for only 60 seconds. To me its major overkill and a waste of money just for bigger bragging rights.
