I'm a total rookie doing a frame-off resto on a '66 Chevelle. I'll be eventually putting in a big block 396 or 454. I picked up a 3:23, 12-bolt posi rear at a swap meet (did the math on the ring and pinion and it works out to that ratio) - that I was told came out of a 70 GTO. I'd like to go from 14 to 15-inch wheels all around, but what will I have to do for the rear brakes (staying with drums back there but converting to power discs up front). Will the existing backing plates, shoes, etc. work with 15-inch wheels? Can anyone suggest a decent tire size and backspacing (for a slight rake in front)? Thanks for any advice - again, I'm new at this stuff!!!

i might beable to help some.

i had 14" keystone raiders on my 71, and put 15" cragar SS's on it. i had 205/60's up front and 235/60's in the rear. now i have 225/60's up front and 245/60's in the rear. it has a nicer stance now, a little taller tires.

i have 4wheel drum brakes, and it all just fit right in.

Thanks Aaron. I like the 245's in the rear. Sounds like a good thing to try.
