I've been working on the wiring of the 71 Chevelle I recently purchased. A bunch of the lights, gas guage and heater blower motor didnt work.

Tackled the heater first and got that working, new blower motor, fan and heater core. Cleaned the fan switch as well...works great!

Dome light, courtesy and dash lights were next....ended up taking the dash loose to clean the grounds, a few new bulbs, headlight switch and fuses.....now I have lights.

Got the gas gauge working today...new sender unit, tank straps and bolts since they were rusty....

next up is getting the console harnesses, neutral safety switch and lights going....hopefully won't be too difficult.

I'm really enjoying working on this car....been about 20 years since the last toy. :)

That's awsome. Nothing like progress to keep you motivated.

I remember when I re-wired my engine bay...I cant tell you how many times I traced every stinkin path to be certain I had it right...got the engine installed...and everything (electrically) has been flawless from day one...Keep at it!

Thanks guys. It's being a fun project so far. Did alot of searching posts here and the assembly manual helped a TON!! I wish I had known of these years ago.

The parts for the console wiring arrived earlier in the week...hope to have it working later tonite. Never had the backup lights work in my old chevelle. It will be awesome if I can get them working.

And the cool part is when taking the gas tank out, found a build sheet around the sender wire. Not too readable though. :(
