Been a little put off by the cost of tilt, auto shift columns (new and used) for my 65 project.
Pretty handy guy at the build or modify side of things. Anyone do or use a different column for their cars? Pictures?

I built one out of stainless for my 70 truck. Would be similar to yours. Mine is a 4 speed witch made it easier.

What materials?
Can these be had easily (harware or steel suppliers)?
Pictures?

The key knives look great, do any with Chevelle or chevy script?

I can email some pictures. Will take a couple and send them later. I used 2" tube on the lower. 4" on the upper where the turn sig and controls are then for the bowl ( dont laugh ) I used a stainless coffee mug that was a perfect fit. All the harness is brand new. All that on a tilt floor shift column. A column shift would be tougher.
The Key Knives are mostly for motor cycles, but I have made a few for other cars and trucks also.

You can get the 2" stainless 304 from JC Whitney. Thats where I got mine. The 4" will be harder to find, but you might need a different size anyway. I got mine from a muffler manufacture in CA. If you need it let me know I will try to track down a phone # for you. The mug I got at Target it is called a "wave mug". It has a 4" dia that bells down to about 2". Was perfect for me.

Now this sounds like fun. I really enjoy the idea of bringing it together from unexpected parts. if you can, pictures would be great. Did you keep the cup handle? It would be a novel lever to use on the shaft.

No got rid of the handle. When you see the pictures you will think it was made for the column.
