Anyone know of any posts or other sites that give diagrams, pointers on replacing the cable from the pedal to the drums ?? I have many of the new parts but need some help on the tricks to getting this done, especially for getting the front cable in. I will be doing this on a '71 convertible with auto tranny. Thanks smile.gif

Try using those nylon straps on the end of the front of the cable fitting that goes into the floorboard to compress the spring fitting. My new one went in easier than getting the old one out.

I suggest using the Haynes Repair manual or any other desired brand. I replaced my E-Brake cable about a year ago following the step by step instructions, complete with diagrams. It was really quite simple.
You can never go wrong having a service and repair manual handy. Whether you keep it on hand just for reference or use it right there in the shop as follow along instructions.
Good luck, hope everything works out all right. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

For compressing the little forked ears the hold the front cable in, try a mini clamp and put it about 1/8th of an inch above the ends of the fingers of the ears and tighten it to collapse the ears, the new one should click in once it gets far enough in. The front cable can be difficult to install, things are in the way with the body on the chassis.
