Is it a ok/good/bad idea to use a spacer to get the right backspace to get a certain wheel tire combo to fit?
For example If i order a set of 15x8's with 5.5 backspace. Put them on and there to far in. Could I use a half inch spacer to move the wheel out towards outside fender? (to get 5" backspace)

Yes you can if your wheel studs are long enough to do so.

If you're going to use a 1/2" spacer, do yourself a favor and replace the existing studs with longer, high-quality ARP studs and don't get cast spacers like you see at the local autozone, get quality solid steel or billet spacers.
Summit has some quality steel spacers from Baer and Billet specialties has billet aluminum ones available.

I dont know much about spacers but if it comes down to using them I will defiantly get more info and upgrade.
Just from browsing on summit it looks like theirs just spacers that just slide right on, and then theirs ones the actually bolt on and have separate studs?
Which would I use?
Thanks

The version with their own studs that bolt are are actually considered adapters, used to adapt wheels with a different bolt pattern. Adapters are usually considered safer than spacers. If you get adapters, again I reccomend gettings one either made from steel or billet aluminum. When you use thin adapters, if your wheels don't have recesses between the lug pattern, you might have to trim the OE wheels studs so you can torque the lugs.
