Ok guys, sorry to say I went brain dead on this one. ( Old guy syndrome) How do you tell a chevelles build date if you don't have any paperwork and it"s not the original engine. Thanks 1969 specific

Are you thinking about the date code on the trim tag?

hi guys, i have a 1971 chevelle ss 454 i got the car in 1983.the car has all the smog,air pumb.etc,i found the bill sheet when i first got the car,but being a ass,at that time did't think it meant anything,i threw it out.anyway i trying to find out where the car was ship.it was built at the van nuys plant (136371L151106) ....on the trunk it has the hory larchmont.ny emblem.can it be the car was shipped that far away?i tried the nicb with no luck they only go back to 1981 vins. i will post pictures of the car soon.thanks

Yes, Is that where it tell you when the car was actually built?

Yes, upper left hand corner of the trim tag there will be a number which translates to the build date. Something like 06C, which would stand for third week June.

Maybe the car was sold used at Hory Larchmont and that's when the dealear put there name tag on it.

I grew up in Larchmont and remember distinctly, Hory Chevrolet, on the corner of Boston Post Rd. and Weaver street. They were in business until about 15 years ago give or take a few. One of the fastest cars around in the late 60's was a friend of mines. Hory sold him a sleeper, a 66 4 door Biscayne, with a 427 / 425 monster. It ran the 12's back in the day. I remember Hory Chevrolet very well. :yes:
