I have all the parts I need to finish my chassis for a 67ss except a steering gear,pitman arm and rear brakes. I am thinking about going with a rebuilt fast ratio steering box power from a 3rd gen camaro (Irocz28) or having the origional box rebuilt. For rear brakes I want to keep the drum brake setup. I am kicking around the idea of using larger drums from elcaminos or wagons? I think Z16s used the same larger brakes like wagons, elcaminos 11 inch. I know Im not going to find any Z16 rear brake setups, just want to use the same size possibly. Or go with aluminum rear brake drums from 3rd gen camaro and rebuild kit from Kanter etc.
The parts I have so far.
Hotchkiss 1" lower coilsprings,front and rear swaybars,boxed control arms(adjustable upper)
PST polygraphite front end rebuild kit,poly body mount bushings.
Stainless Steel disc brake kit aluminum calipers slotted rotors.
502,M21,3.55 posi.
Any suggestions for steering and rear brakes that would work well with these parts would be appreciated.

With respect to your steering question, I would suggest that you go to the following sight:
www.corvettefaq.com/A-Car.asp (http://www.corvettefaq.com/A-Car.asp)

Download the following;

A-Car Fast Ratio Steering Gear Upgrade instructions

Caprice, MC, & Buick Fast Ratio Gears (List)

Grand Cherokee Fast Ratio Gears

This should help you obtain a fast ratio gear that will give you fast response with a decent turning circle.

Some of these same papers are posted in the Chevelle Tech section. However, I have updated some of them at the Corvette sight. The Chevelle sight has been dormant for over a year.

For your rear brakes do a search for 11" drums as username "BC" has done the swap. Seems he did it "uber" cheap from a '73-'77 Monte Carlo.
