I'm looking to convert over to power disk on a budget and so far the most expensive part are the spindles. Can someone tell me if these spindles look right for a 71 and look ok in general?
Thanks guys

If you're looking to save money, I believe you can modify the drum spindle to accept the disk brake hardware. I'm not sure of the details on this but you can search for it or someone can fill you in.
Edit: I searched for you. smile.gif

To be honest with you malibuman400 without good picture of the spindles I can't tell you if they are the correct ones for disc brakes, there is only a minor different in the mounting lugs for the caliper brackets. The description sounds right but he might be misinformed or out and out lieing, I don't know so be forwarned.

The pic does look like the top mounting boss is the right size to be a disc spindle, but like Q-ship says without them being in my hands and having a straight edge and vernier calipers I can't tell you by the picture if they are disc spindles.
If I was in your shoes, I would modify your spindles to accept the disc caliper bracket or head over to team camaro (http://www.camaros.net) and look at David Pozzi's website that shows you how to swap C4 12" and 13" rotors and calipers on your stock drum spindles.
Good luck!

I usually can spot drum spindles at the U-Pull-It places in Sun Valley. Last set I bought were around $10.00 each. Had a set I found and tossed them on the ground a few months back 'cause all I wanted was the arms.

try www.sardesonracing.com (http://www.sardesonracing.com)
They have the spindles NEW. When the spindles were listed on their website a while back, I think they were 99.00 each. That's a whole dollar less than buy it now.
I emailed them a couple of weeks ago and they said they had them in stock.

Malibuman, They sure look like the ones I got last wnter from a 70 monte. They worked out real good for me they fit perfect. No modifications just a straight swap, if you do get them have them checked for cracks.
Where are the caliper brackets? Dust shield?
The caliper brackets are harder to come by than the spindles. YOu can modify the drum spindle as it only requires the top caliper boss to be shaved down.
I'd wait, and if you find a used, complete set for under $200 you be better off.

Just on a side note. I personal know the guy who is selling those parts on ebay. Great guy. Ask him any questions and hell tell you. I would not doubt him saying that these are disc spindles. He knows his stuff. Thats all he does is sell parts.
As far as the price. Around here they are hard to come by. When you see stock parts go for 300-400, I think that is too much for used parts. $100 for disc spindles in good shape, if you dont like the price then dont buy them. I personal have never seen discs on a chevelle/gto/lemans/camaro/nova....... in a junk yard.
