Here's the thing, when I bought my 71 chevelle, the front end was dropped about an inch from stock height(I think the front coils were heated). I wanted the front end even lower so I cut a coil and a half. This gave it a nice slammed look. Now the thing is that with my new 18" wheels, there's about a pinky's finger width of space inbetween the fender and the tire with the tires turned all the way. I bought new 3" drop springs from OPG, I havn't installed them yet, but now am wondering if i should exchange the for 2" drop springs.
I really like how the car looks right now, but i know i should raise it just a little to keep from damaging those really expensive tires.

What do you guys think?

Any pics of what it looks like now? I think you'll probably rub even with 2" drop springs with 18" wheels/tires. Might not be bad, but better than 3" of drop.

I also have a '71, but I have some 17x8s on it. Right now, I am running the QA1 coil over conversion setup and have it set ~2 inches lower than stock. Very rarely does it rub. Usually this will happen if I am turning hard and hit a dip or bump, and even then it is just a slight rub. With your 18s, it might rub more. Of course, it will depend on your backspacing and overall width also.
