greetings! 71 SS Chevelle (454).... just rebuilt front end suspension (PST polygraphite) to include new centerlink .. After getting front end alignment today, car has some noticeable play in the steering. Funny thing is that I didn't notice this before I got all the new stuff....... What should I look at? The Mech who did the alignment mentioned an adjustment screw on the bottom of the steering box.......should I go there? Thanks for your help!

this site : http://www.monte-list.nu/tech/boxmesh.shtml has some instruction for doing a later model box. You would substitute a screwdriver for the allen wrench but the procedure is similar. But be careful, its easy to overtighten and cause different problems.
And before you adjust the box, put your front end up in the air and shake the snot out of it looking for anything loose I'd think that the alignment tech would have checked but you should too.
Also have someone slowly move the steering wheel while you check the union between the column and box for slop, they wear out too.

The mechanic that did the alignment should have adjusted the steering box too, take it back and get the rest of the job done that you paid for!!!!!
