We did some thing backwards. Body work before removing from frame. But it turned out pretty good. There was no rust in the floors. We had to replace the trunk pan.

I will post some pictures of the body going back on shortly. This car came out of British Columbia, Canada. It was bacically rust free except for the rear wheel well lips.
The frame was sand blasted and powder coated, as well as rad cradle and control arms.

I can't wait to play with clean parts! Did you get the valve covers from Summit or somehwere on the internet?

Darryl396
Feb 17th, 10, 10:02 AM
I bought them off Ebay. I think Summit/ Jegs sell them thou. I don't know if the factory brake booster is going to fit. I am going to start with manual disk brakes and see how it feels.

Here is the body going back on after sandblasting and paint. It took about 15 minutes with a good forklift operator.

I was thinking the same thing. How didnt that screw anything up?

I was concerned at first too. The shop assured me everything would be fine. The forklift didn't make a mark. The body probably only weighs about 500 lbs.

Looking good. Will it have a red interior. I really like the red interiors. When they are all redone they look awsome. Keep up the good work.

As said the brake booster will work I have the same valve covers on a 69 but mine are orange. And the 70 has a bit more room from when I was searching to see if mine would work.Nice to see another Chevelle being brought back to life.My car came from B.C too and was restored in Saskatchewan http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad318/FiredUp396/scan.jpg

The car came with a red interior. I was going to change it to black, but after seeing some red interior cars at Barrett Jackson, it is going back to red.
I'm glad the booster will fit. I was worried about that.
I was hoping to have the car out this summer, but it looks like I need a bit more cash than I was planning on.
The new plan is to have it at next years World of Wheels in Winnipeg.

The body shop is just flying.
They will be putting it in primer tomorrow and start the block sanding.
Their plan is to paint all the panels off the car. All the sheet metal was aligned perfectly before they dissassembled it so they feel it should go back together nicely.

Well after 3 years of on and off work, the car finally seen the paint booth. I am so impressed with the quality of the work the body shop did.
I have to give props to Maaco in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Looks great - Make sure they use a template or correct dimensions on the stripes - Seen a lot of nice paint jobs messed up with nasty stripes.

Stripes are done. The template from Ground up leaves much to be desired. The body shop couldn't use any of it. The stripes were cut so poorly that the edges were all jagged.
They used the measurements off it and created their own.

We just went through that same thing with a kit from Stencils/Stripes . Double cuts in the template, jagged edges etc. I too was disappointed.
