How do I fix a bent steering shaft? I pulled my steering column out and the shaft is bent off the axis about a 1/4 inch +-?. Maybe I bent it pulling it out who knows? Can I put it in a vice and bent it back? Do I need to replace the shaft or column. Will the rag joint and other components adjust and flex? It is a 67 tilt steering, energy absorbing column.
Thanks

Dale,
I don't know how much experience Jim has for working on these columns. But you might try e-mailing him. JimL82@aol.com

He recently retired from 30+ years of service with the Saginaw steering division.

He's got papers on the disassembly of steering components over at www.corvettefaq.com (http://www.corvettefaq.com/A-Car.asp)
