: C5 brake brackets
dukejoh Nov 5th, 03, 11:57 PM Hey I just wanted to let everyone know that my brake brackets should be in around the first of next week. I will let you know how they turned out and how they look. I purchased them from a guy that sells lots of disk swap brackets on ebay who also performed this swap on his 67 chevelle. Just to recap my brake swap.
13" front rotors and C5 calipers
3rd gen camaro rotors turned into a hub
B body spindles
Pole position/global west/hotckis(sp?)Upper arms
custom bracket
12" rear C5 rotors and calipers
custom bracket
Both brackets came from a fellow named Gary King who is now supplying these. I will try to post some pics when they come in...if someone explains how. smile.gif Not trying to advertise, just get the word out that completed brackets front and rear are ready to be purchased for everyone trying to make them.

Elusive_R Nov 6th, 03, 2:34 AM Do you have his ebay name or a link to one of his auctions? I'm intrigued smile.gif

dukejoh Nov 6th, 03, 8:57 AM His ebay name is red67chev and he can be reached via email at
gdkng@hotmail.com
He has just finished the brackets for this conversion and the kit comes with the needed hardware and some pics of the swap.
He used tall B spindles, 13" C5 brakes, Global West Uppers and his brackets to do the front. The only downside could be that the rear brackets do not retain the internal parking brake mechanism, but that doesn't bother me. My set shipped UPS yesterday so I should be getting them early next week.

the walrus Nov 6th, 03, 6:28 PM Sounds interesting, but I searched all over e-bay and could find nothing on it. any links???
dukejoh Nov 6th, 03, 8:12 PM Ohh... I guess I misread. He has just finished this kit and has not sold any on ebay yet. I was just saying that he makes several brackets that he sells on ebay...he will soon be adding this one also. I have been talking with him for the last several months and when he got to the finished product he sent me some first. I will post pics when the come in. If you have any questions about purchasing these brackets email Gary at gdkng@hotmail.com
I am excited about putting these brakes on my car.

Elusive_R Nov 7th, 03, 12:56 AM Thanks for the heads up, Caleb!
I'm excited, too! Keep us posted with your installation. Mine won't be going on for awhile, but they'll look nice on the rolling chassis when they do go on!

72SSAbody Nov 9th, 03, 2:08 PM Hey guys. I've got a set of C5 rear brakes with abutments if anyone needs them. Whatever core charge is for the calipers and you can have 'em.
E-mail if interested.

69boo307 Nov 10th, 03, 12:24 PM I'm using Joe's bracket design, but I havn't got to try it on the road yet. I'm also having wheel clearance issues with the C5 rotors, those things are HUGE. my 17" V.W.W. V40s clear the rotors fine diameter-wise, but the problem is the 'face' of the rotor rubs the back of the spokes on the wheels.

Baer has a template on their website that helps you with this problem when deciding on wheels. I wish there was a list out there that showed what will work without wheel spacers.
I do know the old school Crager SS's in 17" will not clear either without spacers.

dukejoh Nov 13th, 03, 8:06 PM I made a few pics of the brackets I bought with my digital cam and cannot get them to post. My lack of computing skills is starting to show. I will gladly email the pics if someone knows how to post them.
The brackets turned out excellent and included some pics with instructions and all the necessary hardware.

540cutlaSS Nov 16th, 04, 1:47 AM Small world. I just ordered mine from the same guy. How do you post a picture in a reply anyway. I cant figure it out. Anyone have a link to some step by step directions.

Brian, did you mean the face of the CALIPER rubs the spokes? What size spacer do you use to make it clear (I recall 1/8"???)?
