I have finally finished a set of papers on disassembling and repairing the standard (non-adjustable) steering column for the 1969 through 1976 Chevelle. They are posted at www.corvettefaq.com/A-Car.asp (http://www.corvettefaq.com/A-Car.asp)
There are three papers along with line drawings, a blowup pic, and a set of pictures of the column mounting and steering wheel. The papers detail repairs that are in sequence.
Paper #1 involves column repairs that can be completed with the column in the car. (i.e. tighten turn lever screw, replace lock cylinder and key warning buzzer).
Paper #2 involves dropping the steering column down from the dash and removing it from the car. You then can replace the turn signal switch and ignition switch.
Paper #3 removes the column head from the column and will assist in replacing the plastic ignition sector and the rack that actuates the ignition switch.
Hope these help.
