Has anyone used a 1 3/8 inch front swaybar combined with a 1 inch rear? what is your opinion? I saw this in Super Chevy magazine; the parts are from Hotchkis. Global West seems to disaprove with this setup. Any replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You might do a search on this subject. Previous post recommends 1 1/8". For the front. You can go to stiff, unless you are an all out racer. Pick one up a a junk yard about $30.00

I have a 1-1/4 bar on my 69 and it touches the idler arm's joint. Anything bigger and you may have a problem getting it in there.

A few years ago I put a 1.375" bar on the front of my Monte SS. I took off the 1.250" can not say it realy made a differance. It did weigh more though. I have used the 78-81 F-body 1.250" on a few Chevelles and have always felt it was a good way to go. I have also used the .875" 442 rear bar & I have used 1" bars on the rear. The 1" bar does make the rear tighter. I choose the rear bar based on how the car is set up. If I use OEM boxed arms I prefer the 1". If I use square tube (Edelbrock etc..) arms I prefer the .875". The Square tube arms are so much more ridged the bars reacts like a bigger bar. I did put a set of H&O Racing front & rear 1.375" bars on a GTO when they were still around. The car was way to stiff. You were able to over drive the tires it pushed so bad.

Thanks for the helpful info. I already have the 1.375 sway bar and was undecided about my rear size. I wanted to run the same set-up as project "Goodmark" from Super Chevy, but have read that this is overkill; they also used a 1" rear bar.

I used the 1-3/8" bar from a TA on my 71 Elco. It really pinned down the front end compared to the stock bar (no rear bar) but going into driveways at an angle, sometimes it would pick the one front wheel up off the ground when the other side compressed too much. People said it looked really weird.
