: Part #10132829 Needed
Ike Jul 10th, 03, 12:15 AM Open challenge-- :D
Anybody?
aka LH caliper mounting bracket f/ 1LE 2 piston caliper (PBR)
I would really appreciate someone finding this part. graemlins/beers.gif If so, and I finish the setup I'm looking at, and I make a casting, this could be an answer for everybody's big disc conversion...w/o the brand name cost. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

72SSAbody Jul 10th, 03, 5:51 AM I do believe there was a RH 1LE bracket on Ebay last week. Are you sure they are different from C4 PBR's to 1LE PBR's?
Sorry not much help. :(
Joe
3 hours searching yielded only the p/n f/ the caliper bracket for the F body spindle.
I've got inquiries into PBR in Australia...
I'll ck ebay.
Thanks. I'm just trying to put together a better big brake option w/o the brand name cost.
I'll post if successful.

You might have better luck with their casting facility located in the carolinas. Just a suggestion.
Joe
Ike Jul 10th, 03, 11:00 PM I'll look for that. Thanks.
I'm hot on the trail of the parts I need to post a new upgrade.
I do have some new info, but nothing confirmed as yet. I'll post when things are solid.

Joe If you have any information specific to your post, please share. PBR, I discovered, is a naval acronym, as well as standing for 'professional bull riding'...too many returns.
I'd appreciate it if you could narrow it down.

JR Oh come on now JR, you just have to know the right buttons to push to get the info you need! tongue.gif ;)

They also have a warehouse facility up in Canada, though I'm pretty sure since the 1LE was made in such limited numbers you aren't going to be able to find the part.
Heck, even searching parts warehouses across the country today revealed nothing sitting on the shelf anywhere. Even the normal obsolete specialty places don't carry it.
Quick question. Why are you using the 1LE abutment for a Big Brake swap? I would think you would want to use something more easily and readily available.
Through my searching I did find out PBR is coming out with some new caliper color choices for our C5's, Holden Commodores/Pontiac GTO, Ford Mustang & Ford Falcon :D
Joe
I found some cores...they're on the way, but I already decided not to do the PBR's until after I test the car w/ the single piston iron calipers w/ the 1LE rotors. I'll upgrade later.
I DID, however, find that Stainless Steel Brakes apparently had their own casting, but whether or not they'll sell the basket...who knows. Probably not, but they still haven't answered my mail.
I plan on calling them Monday to find out what the deal is.
I swear...w/ all the other research I've been doing, the hour I spent looking through search results for them was too much.
Thanks for the info!
gchandler Jul 11th, 03, 9:29 PM probably because 1le rotors fit a b-body spindle, but have a 4 3/4 on 5 (f-bofy) bolt circle.

Joe Didn't see the question...
I'm not going that route now, as the C4/5 are better choices. Initially I saw an opportunity for cheap big, dual piston brakes for members...until I found that a critical part had been all bought up by the 'kit' outfits.
I have plans detailed in a different thread that don't necessarily include the 1LE setup in entirety. I just needed to step up the brakes to 4WDisc until I was able to choose a race 17" wheel later, and was hoping to match the front PBR's to rears. Too much of a pita right now, imho. I'd rather take the easy route to get 4Wdiscs w/ 12" up front, and spend the effort on the C4 or 5 later.
72SSAbody Jul 11th, 03, 11:34 PM I think what you'll find (as Bill aka "BC" and RJ aka "airrj" have found out) is the iron caliper setup is damn hard to beat!!
Not only is it hard to beat price wise, but with braking systems being equal (except for calipers) you'll have more clamping force generated through the big piston iron calipers than the PBR calipers could ever dream of generating! Do the calcs. & you'll see why.
Joe
Ike Jul 11th, 03, 11:50 PM Came to that conclusion myself, and am gravitating that direction as we speak, though I'm waiting to do the C4 rotors til I'm back on the road again. The 1LE's w/ the single piston iron caliper will suffice for now. I've got too much to do w/ the frame off resto as it is, despite the fact that my body guy is doing most of the tub work.
If you have experience to add, post it in the 'Jury' thread on Discs.
I'm trying to develop that thread to be a collation of past posts, collected information, and experience.
