: paint on bushings

I put some axle grease on my control arm bushings before I painted them with etch, epoxy, and SS urethane so the paint wouldn't stick. Well it stuck. I can scrape it off if I really work at it. Can I just leave the paint on them? Is there some reason to keep paint off of rubber bushings besides looks? Thank you.

don't know about the paint, but grease is what eats away the stock rubber bushings and makes them fall apart after 30 years.

Seems like painted rubber parts crack after a short time. They need to breathe, but if it was me, I'd forget about it.

I used the blue painter's tape to tape off the buchings. The tape has a low adhesive texture to it and did not leave any residue on the bushings. As far as removing the paint from the bushings, have you tried paint thinner on a rag and try wiping it off that way?
