That is is a 67-68 eight track player. The design changed for '69. Starting in '70 the eight track was incorporated into the radio. I believe you could still get the underdash unit dealer installed in '70 and '71. It looked like the 69 but with better wiring plug on back and part number indicating year.

I have a 1970 Dealer Installed Underdash 8-Track for my 70 SS. 69 has a different setup with the wiring and mounting.
Getting the wiring harness for the 70 was not easy to come by since I'm sure not alot out there since the 8-track was incorporated into the radio in 70 as an option.

That beauty looks like a camaro only unit but the one's I remember had a pad on top and mounted at the rear of the center console. Maybe they used the same unit under the dash when full gauges weren't ordered.

That's correct. The model # 7301001 shown in one of the pictures is specifically listed in the 67 Camaro assembly manual. I don't know if the same unit was used in 68 Camaros, but I doubt it since Delco could not seem to leave a radio model # alone for more than one model year!
If the 67 Camaro had no console, then the tape player was mounted under the dash on a U-shaped bracket, and then the cover piece shown in the auction went over the bottom of the tape player to hide the bracket.
If it had a console but no gauges, then the tape player was mounted on top of the front section of the console on two L-brackets, and then the cover went over the TOP of the tape player to hide the brackets and the holes in the top of the tape player.
If it had a console with gauges, then the tape player was mounted on top of storage door of the console on a complicated U-bracket, and then the cover went over the TOP of the tape player to hide the bracket, and then an arm-rest pad was glued to the top of the cover.
Leave it to the Delco radio guys to make it complicated :D
