Hello
I got the rear caliper set up off of a 78-9 Caddy Seville. Per a magazine article these should just basically bolt right in. My question is will the existing Seville parking brake cables work with my 71 Chevelle, if so where can I get new ones. Also the Seville calipers are really rough. Does anyone know where I can get some rebuilt ones somewhat cheap. A friend said a 76 or so Transam Firebird rear disc will work too. What are your thoughts on this.
thanks
Robert

Doing the same thing this summer on mine. Bought all the parts last year...schedule isn't agreeing with me.
1979 Trans Am rear calipers is what I got, with e-brake. Cables...well, search for my post titled 'jury pool', and there's some info on teh brake cables, or look up member 'BC'. He's full of experience with the GM rear calipers.

Personally, I got all the rear gear off of a '79 Seville, which gave me the brackets, and I decided on buying new calipers as it was just too damned much work to attempt to rebuild the old ones. Oh, and you need the ebrake levers off of the old ones...they don't come with the new/rebuilt calipers!!

Autozone is where I found the best price...I want to say they were ~$120 each. I don't know your definition of 'cheap', but I made a personal decision about my safety and decided that was cheap, compared to the high-end, brand name stuff.

Email me if you have questions...I don't scan old posts for replies to my replies very often.

Good luck.
