Just got our Chevelle on Friday and I need some help. I put a Battery Tender on yesterday and the negitive cable is very bad and looks like it should be replaced. I think I should just replace both cables and be done with it. The cables that are on there now are top mounted and have bolts through the cable ends. I have look at replacements for a 71 and they are for a side post. Also the other cables I have seen look like they just attach without a bolt. What advise can you give me on type and where to get replacements? Thanks in advance.

69 and earlier used side post, just ask for those.

I think that might be the problem, the battery and cables that are on the car are both a top mount. Am I going to have to change the battery also?

Why not just go to the auto parts store and buy top post cables?

Pull your cables off and measure them or take em to the parts store and buy the same length top post cables.
