: Help to Identify master cylinder

Greetings,
Need a brake guru today. I ebayed a brand new master cylinder, combo valve, 9" booster, and hard lines. The booster fits my 65 Chevelle perfectly. But the master has two different sized fittings for the lines that go to the proportioning/combo valve. So these do not match up with the hard lines. Not a big deal as I can make new lines. The seller said he had no idea as to why they do not match up. I just need to make sure that this is a disc/drum master cylinder.

Can anyone tell me what this master cylinder is for?

And an '8' next to a logo that looks like a C on top of an E

Two chambers, the usual small and large resivors.

John,
That is a Ford MC found on many pintos, mercury bobcats, granadas, mustang II's etc. etc. That's why your fittings don't bolt up.

Sounds like your Ebay guy was just "unloading" some parts on you.

Thanks Joe,
Is it a bad thing if I just go ahead and make the lines needed to use this one?

John,
That all depends on the pump stroke length & MC bore size of the Ford MC. I don't know the details of the MC other than what applications it came on.

You can certainly try using the MC, but if it was me I would just go out and buy a MC for disc/drum chevelle applications. They're fairly cheap and would save you time and hassles trying to see if this would work.

Remember, you're comparing a Pinto braking system to a GM A-body system. Sort of an apples to oranges comparison.

Good luck with your swap graemlins/beers.gif
