On moog front stock replacement springs which is top and bottom. neither have flat ends. This is for a 70. One end has a gap between the end and coil. The other touches the coil.

The end that touches is the top. If you stand the spring up on that end, it should stand straight up.

The lower control arm is shaped to accept the open end so make sure you line the bottom up correctly.

Also Moog usually puts a paint dab or spray on the upper end.

Well it looks like I put the spring in upside down. Is this a big deal?

I had originally put the spring in with the open end (painted) on the bottom. It didnt look like it was sitting properly and only a portion of the spring was making contact with the control arm. So I removed and reinstalled the other way which is apparently upset down by what I'm being told. Although, when I installed it this way the spring sits in the control arm nice and there is full contact with the control arm and spring.

If you install them upside down the springs will never take the correct set and the ride and handling will suffer.Take a look at your old springs and you'll notice they have a distinct bend to them, after a while your new springs will look that way too.Did you put the lower spring end in the lower control arm correctly. If you look at the LCA you will see 2 holes where the spring end should sit approximately in the middle of.

I did see the 2 holes, but when I placed the spring in the right way the first time, I placed the end against the portion that is raised thinking that this was the design to keep it from moving. When I did this the spring covered those holes.

You got me wondering so I went out and checked mine. The lower spring end sits right between the holes. Its not rocket science here,as long as your close you should be OK.I've heard that the holes allow water to drain out. Also heard them called inspection holes.

I got the spring turned around now and have the right end sitting right between the two drain holes. It set into the control arm nicely. I must have had it angled wrong on my first attempt to make it look so awkward. Thanks again for all the help from those who have such knowledge and experience.
