Just wondering if I will need to buy new shocks after I swap the 454 in. It was originally a small block, and the owner before me just bought all new shocks a few months before I bought it. Do they even make shocks specific to a BBC?

The shocks you have will work fine. Shocks aren't weight specific, unless you are using coil-over shocks. Shocks are to control/limit rebound or up and down motion.
