YankeeRodder Feb 4th, 10, 9:16 PM Here's the info, Ive seen this car run and it's an animal. $15,000 no engine. I don't know the guy, but I took this large picture of the car at Woodburn Hotrod Nationals (nothing newer than 1972) outside of portland Oregon a few years back.

cheveslakr Feb 4th, 10, 9:28 PM I also know the car and the owners, the car was created from a wealth of knowledge and skill. You can rest assured that no expense was spared. It's worth the price. I've got some very nice pics of this one just sad to see it for sale.

YankeeRodder Feb 4th, 10, 9:37 PM Ya, I wish I could get it, loved the car. Hope whoever buys it keeps it in the area. Not many gassers around anymore. Maybe i'll build one someday.
YankeeRodder Feb 4th, 10, 9:42 PM Here's a cool old school gasser from a picture shoot for Hotrod a few years ago.

YankeeRodder Feb 4th, 10, 10:30 PM I think the Olds is a 55,, maybe 54? Who out there knows??
Luke Feb 4th, 10, 10:59 PM That's a '55 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday htp sedan. I love 40's-50's gassers.
YankeeRodder Feb 4th, 10, 11:24 PM Not a hardtop though,,
Luke Feb 4th, 10, 11:42 PM Yes, Oldsmobile called this body style a hardtop sedan. There body style terms were a little differen't then Chevrolet, but your right most people called this body style a sedan or a post. This could even be a Deluxe Holiday Htp sedan. Olds. called the non sedan cars a hardtop coupe.
Here ia a cool 3spd stick that you don't see often, Its got a cool sleeper look for a old school hot rod Olds.http://topnotchvehicles.com/v-web/gallery/album14
prefectca Feb 4th, 10, 11:51 PM That 55 reminds me of the two lane blacktop car.
YankeeRodder Feb 5th, 10, 12:00 AM Wow, thanks for the info Luke, the link you sent was sure a beautiful car,, I have a 70 Chevelle but have a special place in my heart for mid 50's post/hardtop cars. My first car was a $50.00 1956 Customline Ford 2dr post, so they are great to me. We still have allot of them pretty rust free over here. If you check our Craigslist adds you see quite a few popping up now and then at good prices.
Saw this nice ride in Torrance Cali last Fall.

Luke Feb 5th, 10, 12:28 AM Sharp!. Portland is a great area for cars. I bought my '69 LM1 4spd Malibu out of Eugene from the original owner, nice rust free car. My first 50's car was a '55 chev. Bel Air 2dr hdtp. I'm lucky I sold it to my dad 20 years ago and it's still in the family. He really loves it because he bought a brand new one and traded for a new chev every year after untill '67. He was the right age he had all the hot stuff chevy made.
Lionel-n-Chevelles Feb 5th, 10, 12:55 AM That 55 Chevy Gasser looks awesome.
The Olds looks great too.
beachbum29 Feb 5th, 10, 10:04 AM Very nice.. I miss the one my dad and I did years ago still.. It's a little high with no motor, but looks in real solid shape, so it may go for that price..
1BLACKHARLEY Feb 5th, 10, 10:46 AM you guys are killin me, i actually resonate more to these type of cars than the 70's stuff. was lucky enough to own a few, and always get teary eyed at the primer nationals every year. there are a lot of young guys out there keeping these cars alive, and i thank each and every one of them. there are actually way more gassers running around than when i was a kid, and a lot of them are built a lot better than we did them back in the day. they've almost taken it to an art form...
grandsport Feb 5th, 10, 10:53 AM For some reason,I'm not surprised you can relate to old gassers,Bill.:D

Man, small world! I've seen this car run at Woodburn before. My father in law has been running there for years. One of these days I might get my car done to join him...:(

what are you tryin to say??? i could be a car salesman????
YankeeRodder Feb 6th, 10, 12:48 AM Ya, gotta love those old rides. Been watchin for a 49 ford to turn into a gasser myself.
Chris R Feb 6th, 10, 9:28 PM There is nothing like a real period gasser that actually spends time on the track. 15K an engine may be a tough sell though.
