Ok, so its not a Chevelle, but still an A-body. Its a 1972 Lemans. Ever since I got the car, I noticed that it sits way too high in the front.
I recall a conversation with the original owner that he had the springs replaced. I have a sneaking suspicion that the wring springs were installed whenever he had it done. The front end has been Rebuilt as well as the rear-end. I replaced the rear coils, but it still too hight in the front. Given that the car is a 72 w/o Air Conditioning, but I plan to go with an aftermarket unit (Prolly vintage air). Also it has a 350 2bbl upgraded to a 4bbl with edelbrock Aluminum intake. Is there a set of springs I should go with . I am actually looking to acheieve a slight rake. I have 15" rims with 225/70/15 in the rear and 2257014 up front. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks a million!

Before you change springs, be sure that the installed springs are seated correctly. On my el camino there are 2 holes in the seat area of the lower control arm. When installed correctly, the first hole is covered by the spring and the end of the spring is visible in the second.

You need to check to be sure the springs were properly seated into the top cup too. Look to see if the shocks are centered in the spring.

There are a lot of companies that make springs to lower the front end of yor car. Hotchkis, Chevy Performance Products, etc. Pick up any Chevy or Performance magazine and you will find plenty to pick from or go to an auto wrecking yard and get a set off a compatible car.

Another place to look is in the wanted ads on this site. People are always changing their springs so a lot of us have sets laying around. For example, I have a 1.5 inch lowering set that is all but new for a big block car. I can't use them as they drop my front too low with the 2 inch drop spindles I added and the headers hit about any time I hit a bump. So, I put the stock ones back in. Post in the want ads and someone will problaby have a set of small block ones sitting around for exactly the same reason!

Heck, I know Awsom70 (ahsom70@yahoo.com)had a 2 inch drop set a couple of weeks ago as I helped him take them out. You might email him to see if he still has them.
