Hey guys, looking to get a set of spare rear wheels for something I can put on there when I want to run the drag radials. They will at most be driven to/from the track about 2 hours away, or even put on at the track if I can find a place to store the others properly. Any direction on best place to find something like this?

From my shopping around I want something at least 8 inches wide so I can run a 275/50/15 drag radial/slick. I have been looking at something along these lines in terms or spec, and they look like they will fit my application. 15x8 inch rim with 5.00 inches backspace, correct lug pattern... BTW these are going on a 70 chevelle 12 bolt rear. Something like this is what I'm looking at so far.

I work at a Sears and can order all kinds of stuff for cost actually, but there is some corporate crap going on right now where we can only order 1 brand of ricer wheels...

Thanks for the help guys!

Does it have to be a 15x8 wheel?

If not, Aero makes some lightweight steel race wheels that are inexpensive.
15x10 5.5BS should fit well on your '70 and come in at 20lbs ea.

Not DOT approved for street use.

Doesn't have to be a 15x8, can be a 15x10 no problem, should fit in the 70 no problem! Then maybe I can look at running a 295 if they make them in that size.

a 29.5x10.5-15 would fit... if you're looking for slicks. Should have the room vertically, if you're not lowered.

Edit -- eh, maybe not, it's got quite the section width 13"+

Hoosier make a 295/65-15 Drag radial at 29.5" tall.

M.T. makes a new 295/55 drag radial that is 2.2 inches less than the 295/65 with the same tread width.

I got my last pair of Weld Draglights on Craigslist for $200. 15x8 w/ 4.5BS and they had BFG tires on them in decent condition. Hunting the online stuff can really work right now. People are selling great stuff cheap.

Nice, i was checking craigslist in my area, and the only thing I could find right now was for truck applications. I will keep looking though.

Yeah, I was considering the 275/60/15 BFG Drag radial, or stepping up to the 295 depending on what size I can fit in there. I might stay at the 275/50/15 though, I know I will loose a little contact patch, but I only have 3.55 gears, and with my 427 I want to have it closer to 6000 for as long as I can, the slightly shorter tire might benefit me.
