Gents, other than simply wobbling the axle end and "feeling" for sideplay, any other methods to check this out?
Car has a funny habit of picking up a vibration at highway speeds around curves or when you switch lanes.
And yes I'll check Ujoints as well. Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Not that I'm aware of Gene.
Have you swapped tires left to right to see if that gets rid of it? How long has it been since your tires were balanced (not static but a good dynamic balance job).
I had a friend with a 5.0 mustang once complain of the same thing. Turns out the axle tubes (for some odd reason) weren't concentric with each other (maybe the car was in a wreck...who knows??). This caused one of the C-clips to wiggle out and the axle to do whatever the hell it liked to
After changing U-joints, rebalancing the drive shaft etc. etc. we decided to dig into the rear end.
After all was taken out I just happened to look through the tubes and noticed they weren't aligned right.
I'm not trying to scare you, but it just shows you to not overlook anything.
Good luck!

Joe, hear ya loud and clear and you're reading my paranoid mind. That would be par for the course. I'm just about to get the rear end up on stands and check it out. Trouble is, I dont think I can pull the axles in my garage. Not enough side clearance. ( its tiny)
My first thought was tires. Its been a while since the tires were balanced, 2-3 years but only maybe 5000 miles, i.e., more sitting than running. ( I'm thinking it was done before the tripower so, 3 years ago.)
Could they lose a balance with such limited use? Does sitting affect them? I figured it doesnt.
Anyway, I'm going down under and check a few things out....rear u joint first. might need to get 4 spun balanced.

Gene,
Just a thought, but could your tires be flat spotted from sitting soo much ?
I know of a guy this happened to, but his car had sat still for several years.
