Have a 86 Cutlas, son hit a fire hydrant with front passenger wheel. Bent frame about 2 inches, not that bad. Need to replace upper/lower C arms and some minor items. Found a local shop that has a frame machine and can straighten it out and the owner tells me that it will be back to original specs. I have people telling me that once it's bent it will never ride the same and other people tellng me that with the frame machines you shouldnt have any problems. Granted if it were really banged up I could see the potential of it never being right. Would appreciate anyones advise who has had a bent frame fixed and the out come of drivability after it was fixed. Would prefer ones that were done on a frame machine versus just being "Pulled".

Thanks for eveyones help on TC

If done correctly you will have no problems and only an expert will see where it was bent. Probably 50% of our old cars have had to have their frames tweaked at some time.

Ditto to what Redrum said. My 72 Chevelle was in a fender bender and the frame got bent on the passenger frame rail right in front of the firewall. The bodyshop that did the bodywork also straitened the frame and it drives fine, you can take your hands of the steering wheel and it does not pull to either side. The bodyshop showed me the machine they use to straiten frames and it is a cool piece of equipment, it uses thin red light beams to measure how much to bend the frame to straiten it within the manufacturers specs.
