I was looking at the dash on this survivor LS6 and couldn't help but notice how the silver around the gauges and the dash surround doesn't look like the chrome on the radio knobs. And also that there isn't any silver around the turn signal indicator openings.
I have seen other posts from people who have original unrestored dashes that have the smaller circles chromed or painted silver. Makes me wonder if there were different two different vendors providing the dashes.
I have noticed that most of the 70-72 Monte Carlo dashes I have seen have the turn signal openings left black.

A car of this magnitude should be displayed a little better, don't you think... The pictures are so blurry, I can't make out any detail on the dash.

I admit the photos aren't great and the "wiper washer" looks like it's been touched up, but the chrome (or silver) around the indicator and high openings you see on alot of repro 70 dash's is NOT correct.

I believe that would be Roger Ausley's old car. Was a dynamite piece back in the mid 80's when it surfaced!!!! The dash in the photos is correct. The circles around the turn signals and high beam indicator are not chrome accented.

Dashes were vacuum plated silver then painted black I believe. The accents are not chrome.

I used the word chrome as kinda shorthand for vacuum plated, as opposed to silver painted. Of course they were not chrome plated, since the dash was not metal. Basically, they were simulated chrome accents, and not actual chrome. Sorry for the confusion.
