Okay.. I don't usually post Polls and the like b/c I believe you should do things to your car the way you want them done, not what others like or think will look best.

That all said, I am going to indulge a friend and ask the fine Folks here what they would do/what they like better?

I'm putting the finishing touches on the 67 SS. It's Factory Maderia Maroon with Black Vinyl top. I want to put the Stripes on it ( not the Optional D96 ones, just the standard factory stripe ) and have three choices... RED, BLACK, or WHITE. My understanding is the Maderia Maroon 67 would come with Factory Stripe in RED, but of course Black can be used and so can White. I won't bias anyones reply or poll answer by saying which way I am leaning.. but thought it would be interesting to see what a random poll would show.

JMO, if you're keeping the red line tires, the red stripe will look great.

that is a beautiful chevelle mike. I voted black since the top is black. I think the white would look garish and that dark red paint with red stripes.....just not for me.......

in my 46 years on earth and after looking at several basket case 67ss's with original paint on them - seems like they all came with those stripes....any before photos ?

Looking at this I voted RED. Black looks good too, but I don't care for the white at all.

The Pseudo stripe The Okie posted on my 67.. is the Factory Stripe all 67's received.. the Optional D-96 one.. Hideous comes to mind :D goes up and over the wheel wells.. and is wider.. Shown here.. though I can't say it is exactly Correct.. you get the idea ;)

I'm still not sayin what I think.. wayy too early in the Polls but ABC thus far is calling it RED State!! :D Lots of viewers that are not willing to Vote.. that is strange too.. but then, who knows what goes through people's minds!

Mike, after checking them out on the pics posted by Jaquie, definetly "red" ones. They seem natural to the car. Black ones do not blend well.

If you do not choose red you defeat the purpose of the poll. :D

The only downside is if the owner decides to change from the redlines you start to clash. The car's body color requires a total committent.

I personally don’t think enough 67's get those stripes put on. The Chevelles always seem "safe" with stripe and stripe color selection. I think this example is about as standout as it gets. The red gets my vote.
Just curious, do any you ever remember seeing a car striped like this, not necessarily a 1967?

Mike, if this is a car you are keeping to enjoy then I say you should make the stripes whatever color floats your boat. But if this is a car you will be offering for sale one day, then I believe you should go with what appeals to the masses...RED! A question I have is, wouldn't Red be the color that the car would have left the factory with? Or did people get to choose the stripe color? If indeed Red is the Factory Correct color, I can't imagine why you, of all people, would consider anything else. :confused: You got some 'splainin to do! Or, since you haven't told us what color you are leaning towards...maybe this is just a test?? :D

Shevelle, love the stripes, I was more referring to the Maroon with red combo, because I have never seen it, what is that in your 396 emblem? A turn signal?

That is a Day 2 alarm system. Not my favorite thing about the car, but kinda cool and is part of its history. You arm and disarm the system with a key in the lock between the flags. Alarm sounds if you open the doors, trunk or hood. It still works...LOUD!! :cool:

I am just curious what people think is all, I plan to put the stripes on that I like, just thought it would be fun to see what others think looks best., and obviously not everyone has same taste.

No, that's doubtful. If we ever get a Formal Point Judging program in place.. I'll make the trip again.. but it's just too far and too expensive to not get point judged.. but that's another TOPIC entirely :D It is a Fun Time though.. been there, done that!!

The black makes sense to me because it matches the top. however, to me both the black and red dissappear in the paint to much so I have to agree with the others that said to just leave it off. However, I am a minority and actually do like the contrast of the white as well. Which I voted as it was my only choice left. I know of a nice 67 that is also the marroon with white stripe however, it does not have a vinyl top. Looks very nice actually.

Great looking car Mike. My senior year in High School I bought a brand new 1967 Maderia Maroon Chevelle with black interior. It was a 283 with three speed on the column. The day I saw that car for the first time I thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen with the simulated mag wheel covers. Sitting next to it was a red SS, black vinyl top,4-speed with black buckets and fully loaded with air. The difference in price between the two cars was huge. I think I paid about $2,700 for the Malibu but I think I remember the SS being around $4,200.

Two years later I traded it in on a 1969 SS 396 with 325 HP. Butternut yellow, dark green interior, 3-speed and bench seat.

My car was so popular in town that a friend one year ahead of me in school ordered the same exact car as mine but got a rear mounted antenna (man it looked really tough with the rear antenna). Later on when the 68s came out another guy orderd his 68 in the maroon because of my car.

I am sorry but I absolutely cannot remember the car having any stripes on it or what the color may have been. Too many years have passed.:) Frankly I don't recall any stripes at all on the car. I did go to a paint shop and have the black panel painted in on the back of the car. The guy screwed up and painted it flat back and had to redo it to semi gloss.

These old chevelles bring back so many memories for us old guys.
