I am completely rebuilding my 66 chevelle's suspension with a stage IV protouring kit and dropping both the front and rear 2" (drop spindles in the front and shorter springs in the rear). I currently have 18" Boyds 8.5 in front and 10 in the rears. I am going with 225 35 18's up front and was wondering what the widest I could fit in the rear without a mini tub? Let me know if I'm going the wrong route up front.
Also I just bought the car and the outside of both front tires look like they have been rubbing on one of the bolts inside the fenderwell. I am pretty sure this is from going around curves with the horrible suspension.... any thoughts?

Man-that 225/35/18 is a short tire for the front??? (Only around 24" diameter) My guess is that they shortened that tire up for clearance issues.
I've done 275 and 285/40/18 alot on the rear with no issues. 11 to 11.4 wide That would make your front tire look even shorter though. (27od vs 24od) I might look into a little taller tire on front, if you don't have clearance issues.

265-275/35 front,295/40 or 305/35 drag radial rears should work well with those wheels.

I have Budnik 18x7 on the front with a 235 40-18 nitto 555 on the front and a 295 45-18 on the back. My car has 2 inch drop spindles with a 1.5 drop spring in the front and I have a slight rub on the outside of the fender on the right side. I think the biggest problem is my back spacing in the front. I only have a 4.5 BS and I should have gone 5 inch. Budnik recommended the BS and I went with it but I am considering sending the wheels back and having them add the half inch to solve my prob. In the back I have a 5.5 BS and I have about 1/4 inch of space from the tire to the out wheel well. I trimmed the wheel opening molding and about an 1/8th of an inch to get the clearance I have in the back. I could easily go with a 6 inch BS and that would make everything better.
Talk to Jon at Driverz Inc, He can answer any questions you have and he has a 66 as well.

after talking with several people I have decided to go with 235/40/18's on the fron and 295/40/18's on the rear. I will post before and after pics. I cannot wait until all of the parts get here!! Power steering, power disc brakes (front and rear), Serpentine kit from billet specialties, Stage IV Front and rear suspension with 2" drop spindles in front and shorter coils in the rear. Gonna be so nice .... stay tuned
