: Proportioning Valve / Brake Light

Just pulled my '71 SS w/ stock front power disc brakes out of the barn after a long winter. To my dismay the brake pedal went to the floor, and the interior brake light went on. I popped the master open, and the rear reservoir was dry. Thinking the master was shot, I replaced it and bled the brakes, no problem. The light is still present in the interior, and I hear a squishing sound coming from the proportioning valve. The brakes still seem spongy. I bench bled the MC, and bled all the lines until all air was out, and fresh fluid appeared. There are no signs of leakage anywhere, except under the master, where it lookes as if small seepage from the master were occuring. Do you guy's think the prop valve is the culprit here? Is there any special proceedure to installing one?

THanks...........SM

Slight correction! I meant the old master looked as though slight seepage was ocurring. The brakes work, but not as I had hoped. Do you guys think the prop valve may be the problem here?

leak from the master means the master is bad, replace it...
