I am rebuilding a tilt column for my 67, column shift. Using my chasis service manual and a little improvisation I have been able to dissasemble it with little difficulty. I have it completely apart, except for the shift tube. I can't figure out how to get it out. I removed what I thought was the retaining ring from the top of the tube, inside the bowl, but don't see how it comes off.My manual shows a slot for a special tool, but I don't see this slot either (there is a slot in the tube, but it is covered and doesn't look like I could hook the special tool into it anyway. Any help?
