Hi all Ive mostly decoded my 72elcamino seems to have an ss package with the lesser options but as im understanding it i need the build sheet to be proof positive for 1972 or is that not the case. I need some insight, also i would like to know can i have it authenticated and or documented.

You might be able to tell by the vin. In '72 they started putting engine codes in the vin. If it's an 'F' (307 c.i.), definately NOT an 'SS'. If it's a 'W' (454 c.i.) definately IS and 'SS'. Other V8 engine codes could go either way and are not proof and you would need documentation.
Seeing that you are in California, the situation is affected by location. You see the 307 & big blocks were not able to be registered in California in 1972. Your VIN will likely show an H for a 350 2-barrel or J for 350 4-barrel as the 5th character in the VIN.
