: 4 link rear suspension....stupid question...

Can someone describe to me what this setup is like? I probably have it on my car. lol I just don't know jack about suspension really.....at least compared to some people. Also what is good about a 4 link rear?? Just wondering. Thanks guys. Sorry for the ignorance....but that's why i'm asking. redface.gif

Yes your 71 has a version of 4-link. In a true link set-up the arms would be parallel to the drivline center and there would be a panhard to keep the diff positioned. Good points are they do a good job of allowing independent movement of the wheels in relation to the other side. Bad points, on the chevelle because there is no panhard, the arms are canted to keep the rear-end square, due to this, the suspension , when worked, operates in bind.My wife would kill me--she's an english major and I know there are way too many commas's in that.

dennis68 - Thanks for the explanation. I never really understood what people were talking about when they said a 4 link suspension. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Must be difficult living with an english major. lol ;) Just a couple too many commas. Easy thing to remember.....

you can pretty much safely use a comma before any of these words. MAN was the comma crap ever drilled into my head in college. lol graemlins/clonk.gif
