View Full Version : CADILLAC REAR DISC schnauzer Jan 17th, 01, 8:05 PM WILL THE REAR DISCS OF A 84 CADILLAC BARITZA? FIT ON A 12 BOLT. Philip Jan 17th, 01, 9:54 PM Don't know what a baritza is, if it is like the fwd Eldorado/Seville go to the link in my signature to see what I did. ------------------ Philip #42 Under Construction Car & Page (http://www.citlink.net/~bowtie/index.html) chief66ss Jan 18th, 01, 11:56 AM The mounting brackets/calipers should work, but you will have to get new rotors. I believe WS6 trans am rotors would work. The caddy should be 5 on 5" lug spacing, chevy's are 5 on 4 3/4". Philip Jan 18th, 01, 1:42 PM I did some research and the Biarritz is just a trim package on an Eldorado. That makes it the same as the donor I used for my conversion. The fwd caddy's of the early to mid 80's have a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. The Chevelle axle needs to be machined down to fit the rotor, but that is cheap to have done. The Firebird Formula also has rear disc brakes identical to those of the Trans Am. The offset may be different and not work with the Caddy rear caliper mounts. The early Camaro rear discs are the same diameter as the Caddy, but have a different offset which requires the use of the matching backing plates. My son just bought a 94 Firebird and as soon as I can I will pull a rotor off and see how it compares to the caddy and the early Camaro. The earlier Caddy rear disc conversion from a rear wheel drive model is covered in Car Craft magazine and does require the use of the F body rotors or redrilling the original ones. Paul_ McConnell Jan 19th, 01, 8:44 PM Had to get in here. The 1980 Seville disc brake setup has both caliper brackets going to the rear and has small 10.5" diameter rotors with the same 4.75" chevy bolt circle. I used the caliper brackets spaced 5/8" out and put 89 Camaro 11/75" rotors on my 1967 Camaro's 12 bolt. Had to turn the axle flange O.D. down to fit inside of the rotor as well as clean up the inner hub on the axle. pdq67 Philip Jan 19th, 01, 8:51 PM Paul which calipers did you use? Usually with the larger rotors there are larger (surface area) pads. Is this the case? [This message has been edited by 64elcamino (edited 01-19-2001).] Paul_ McConnell Jan 19th, 01, 10:35 PM The 1976/'78 Eldorado(both brackets to rear), the 1977/'78 big cad and buick (left bracket back, right bracket, front), the 1977/'78 Seville (left bracket front and right bracket rear) all use the big 11" rotor and big caliper all with the 5" bolt circle pattern. The 1979 Seville (left bracket front, right bracket rear). The 1980/'81 Seville (both brackets to the rear). 1979/'81 Eldorado, Riv. and Tornado and the 1980/'81 Seville(all brackets to rear) use the small 10.5" rotor and small calipers all with the 4.75" bolt pattern. The 1979/'80/'81 Firebird (left bracket to front, right to rear) use the 11" rotor with the small calipers all with the 4.75 bolt pattern. My chart from the September 1981 issue of Hot Rod mag. stops there. pdq67 Paul_ McConnell Jan 19th, 01, 10:38 PM Back, I'm sorry, I used the 1980 Seville calipers. Since the rear brakes less then the fronts, it doesn't matter that much. Also, I have to plumb a prop. valve in my rear line to balance the front to the rear. pdq67 |
