shannont has a 67 with a polished tilt column from either Flaming River or Ididit. It is by far the CLEANEST installation I've seen - it tucks very nicely up under the dash.

I have an FR that, when installed, sits 4-5" below the dash - ugly!

Got some info from shannont re his install - problem solved. Thanks,

Just use the Flaming River OE drop. Problem solved.

Andrew - the OE drop caused the problem - a 4" gap between the dash and column. FR knew all about it when i called them - their answer - return the OE and you're on your own.

The real solution on a 67 is to re-use the original or custom-fab (which I'm doing) a clamp that will raise the column to about 1/2" between dash and column. Just in Houston today and we got it all laid out - a little work with a plasma cutter, some careful expert welding (not me), and then polish her up.

The OE drop is a mistake for a 67. Thanks for chiming in though.

BTW, stone cold georgous GTO, bro. I look at that and think..."I wish..."

Best,

Mike

Mike,

Thanks for the kind words about my GTO. Its good information that you gave about using the FR column in a 67. I had no issues with using the OE drop on my 70. So there must be some differences in the column placement between those years.
