Does the flat part of the front coil springs go against the control arm(bottom) or the frame(top)? Also, remember someone telling me that the end of the coil spring that is in the arm is to be lined up with one of the holes in the arm. Is there any truth to that?

I don't remember about the flats but the end of the coil spring must be between the two holes. IE.... one hole will be fully covered and the second will be at least partially open.
