Good morning everyone,

I'm trying to put my car back on the road and am having some problems with my brakes. I have new stainless lines, one new caliper, one new rear brake hose and now two rebuilt master cylinders.

On the first master, I put the plugs in as required and bled the master on the car with no lines hooked to it. I could never get anything out of the rear section so I thought it might be bad. I was in a rush so I bought another rebuilt unit from another auto store and bled this one on the bench. The unit seemed to work fine as I worked the air out, but the rear chamber never seemed to move alot of fluid for some reason, only small squirts. I didn't see any air bubbles in the chamber though while I was doing all of this.

I hooked the unit to the car and tried bleeding the back brakes first. I got some fluid, but not a whole lot and the brakes won't stop the wheel when the car is on jackstands. I did the fronts and got the old caliper working with what seemed like good pressure. I bled the new caliper, got some fluid, but no action on the caliper. So basically I have one wheel stopping. I did switch back to the first master cylinder since fluid started leaking out of the rear port, but it does the same thing. It just appears to have very little pressure in the rear.

The car has power brakes and am using the original booster and delay valve. I assume they are ok otherwise I don't think I'd have any front brakes.

The car has been sitting a while and I replaced the front claiper because I couldn't get any return action on the original unit. Any ideas anyone? I really need to get this car back on the road ASAP.

by some chance did you buy a new pushrod? The one going from the pedal to the booster? It sounds like your rod is too short.(not you the car's rod)

I say this because you bleeded it out of the car and it worked fine, but when you put it on the car it would not apply enough pressure. Sure sounds like you have an incorrect pushrod.
