Greg...I have B80 and B90 on my El Camino trim tag. The B80 is roof drip moldings and B90 is the window frame trim.

Hi, There were many Shriner clubs that would order a certain model, all with paint delete and then have them painted the color of their choice, all the same. Nebraska has the distinction of selling the most Corvettes during the late 50's through the late 70's as there was a huge Chevy dealer in Omaha who also was a Shriner. It was nothing for a Shrine Club to order 20 or more Vettes, Chevelles or whatever with no paint all at one time. Perhaps yours was a Shriner's? Hope this helps

I must say I've heard of special paint (RPO ZP3) cars but never one ordered with no paint. A fiberglass Corvette may get by for a little while with no paint but a metal-bodied car?

I would guess there are either 2 dash characters (- -) or a DuPont mixing formula number like 926-xxxxx in the normal paint code section of the tag indicating special paint. Really, pretty common in the late 60s, early 70s.

GM never shipped any cars unpainted except maybe bodies destined for race teams etc and then they were not assembled in the regular assembly plants. GM was in the business of selling cars and trucks if you wanted special painted they could accommodate any color under the rainbow so any tale of them shipping cars without paint is just that, a tale.

It just makes no sense, why would anyone buy a car unpainted then have to spend untold $$ painting it when for pennies on the dollar GM would paint it any color the customer wanted? Not to mention that to pull a body from the line to avoid just paint was nearly impossible to accomplish because the plants were not set up to do this, there was no room to bypass this process.
