trying to help a friend sell his project

the fella has had this car for 5-6 yrs, and spent ALOT of $

and as far as projects go, was way over dude's mechanical ability, so he sent it out to alot of places,

he's bought top notch stuff

hotchkis
eibach
baer
engine's been punched to a 383
roller cam and rocker
harmonic balancer

the body has been taken off and frame painted
body's been worked on and needs finishing
i think the floorpan is original and in good shape as is trunk

it was a running car when he bought, so he still has all the parts

good glass

now he's run out of steam and bought a fixer upper house, he was wanting $10k and i convinced him that was unrealistic. he still thinks that if he can;t get what he wants, he's gonna keep it and finish it. but after 5-6yr and 10-15k, there's a long way to go.

There is still a lot of $$$ that has to be sunk into the car. Without seeing the whole thing and the economy the way it is I would say $5000.

Based upon what needs to be done to the car to finish it, I wouldnt pay more than 4k.

5-6 grand around here. You can get over your head pretty quick when you have to pay for everything to be done on a restoration.

It's funny a car like that that already has the frame done and a new engine only worth 4-5 k...but someone finds a rusted out heap that used to be a 70 SS and needs everything it is worth big money....

I was thinking the exact same thing.

The real funny part is 50 yrs from now when a lot of us will be dead and gone, it won't matter if ur can was an SS or not.

I think the options on the car may make some difference. If it is a big block he may be able to get a little more, but I would say 4-5k would be around right.
