Hey there guys, I know I posted this in the Chevelle Tech 2004 forum already, but I figured this was really the place it belonged. I installed my hydroboost unit from Hydratech this weekend, and documented the whole process, as well as some feedback on the process I received from Paul. Here's the website :

Hydratech Hydroboost Installation Page (http://www.angryamerica.com/chevelles/hydroboost.html)

Hope this helps some of you guys out!

Also - Paul said he's extending the group purchase deal until the end of February, so it may not be a bad time to pick something like this up.

Enjoy!

I checked out your page yesterday from the other post. The install looks pretty slick. graemlins/thumbsup.gif ( the web page looked slick too.) I'm really considering going that direction when I get to that point on my car. What did that kit set you back. (If you don't mind me asking.)

The Level 3 kit, which includes all new components is 595.00, and then another 90.00 or so for the master cylinder. You can definitely use your old master cylinder if it's the correct size, and in good shape. If not, it's pretty easy to replace them with a good quality one from Hydratech. That includes everything, minus shipping. There's nothing more you need to buy, except maybe brake fluid and power steering fluid if you don't have any around.

Paul's also running the group purchase discount until the end of February, which knocks 100 bucks off the price - well worth it if you ask me. It's a nice solid hunk of metal, and works every bit as good as it says it does.

Nice job. I installed mine last October, but then it cold here and I never got past the initial startup. It was noisy as hell and the brakes still needed bled, but it'll be my first thing to work on when I get some decent weather. I can't wait to get it on the road. The one gripe I have is that the new master cylinder started rusting almost immediately, and now looks a lot like the one I took off. Maybe I should've painted it.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing with mine, and was planning on priming and painting it this weekend. But, it seems that we are having our one bad weekend of weather a year here in San Diego, so I'll have to put it off until next weekend, or until I get a little free time at work. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The units will quiet down and smooth out with use. Mine took about 50 miles for the bulk of the noise/gurgles/pedal burps to calm down, and went completely away after about 300 miles.

I love mine. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yeah, I've got about 550 miles on after this install, and it's completely quiet, and all the pedal quirkyness has gone away. I love it.

Alright, am I the only one that's missing something here? I'm just about done installing the system. But the end of the long hose that goes behind the power steering pump is male. It is male too behind the steeering pump. I was just going to get a female/female adaptor from a local part store but can't find the right size. I'm most likely to call Paul on Monday but if you guys have any solution to this that would be great.

The back of my steering pump has a female connection. Are you sure your pump is correct? I installed the Hydroboost last weekend without any problems.

Kazuaki, now I'm not sure of that. I'll call Paul anyway on Monday and see if he has any cheap solution for that. Otherwise, I guess I'm just gonna have to get a new PS pump. smile.gif
Talldeck, when I called them a few weeks ago the TC group purchase was over but Paul game me the deal for other websites group purchase. So just call him and tell him that you found him at Team Chevelle. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Well guys, I just hope the Hydro Boost systems you put on your cars were a lot differnt from what's on my fleet of trucks at work. We have a fleet of Ford (Crap) F700's and F800's with a Hydro Boost system on them and they are without a doubt the most worthless things I've ever seen.

I called Paul today and explained to him the problem. He said that some early 69s had some of them that came with male connection on the PS pump. He will send me the proper fitting needed at no charge. What a nice guy! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Just ordered mine today from Paul and he gave me the $100 discount which almost paid for the extra lines and fittings i ordered to plumb seperate return lines for both the booster and gear box with braided lines so that I won't be using the rubber lines with the "T" fittings. I will be using a high performance type 2 pump with a seperate reservoir with 2 return lines and one feed line. Should look pretty sweet. Paul is the "man" in hydroboost.
