Im using stock rear 69 control arms and 1" rear sway bar for 68-72. It will be a week before I can order my 1" sway bar and box kit,springs,bushings,shocks,brake kit,gears.etc. Im using my malibu control arms but ofcourse they dont have holes for mounting the sway bar. I know it would be best to c-clamp the bar in place and mark the holes before I pull the rear end out, but it will be a 1 1/2 weeks before I can get my parts. I would like to go ahead and pull the rear end for sandblasting,cleaning,painting,etc.can someone tell me where and what size holes I need to drill for mounting the sway bar, or do I need to wait until parts come in a do it that way? thanks

EDIT::
Found it, if any one else needs to know. http://www.chevelles.com/techref/ftecref16.html

For installing a rear sway bar, I would go with boxed lower control arms for strength and stability. Most of the boxed lower control arms already come with the swaybar holes in place. If your on a budget you can find these on ebay pretty regularly for half of what you would pay for them brand new.

Bob, Yea Im for sure going to have boxed arms, I was looking at the box kit in OPG, but I'm just going to get flat metal stock and 1/2" i.d. pipe and make my own for probably around 10 bucks.

I did a search on this same question and found a post with dimensions, but can't remember the exact numbers (something like 6" and 10" centered).

I placed my bar first, and found the single hole in stock non-boxed arms were right where the rear hole lined up.

Also a lot of good tid-bits of info in those old posts ;)

mesure from the front bushing back 10"5/16 then 6"center to center these holes are 15/16 up from bottem of the trailing arms the holes are 7/16's for stock 7/8 rearbar I'd replace bushing at same time...Oh I'd wait till I knew what size the holes in the 1" bar are some are 1/2" & making the center spacer & plates for boxing arms is more work then its worth ... you can buy kits from OPG for 19 buck that what I paid for em couple of months ago .. they may have been on sale graemlins/thumbsup.gif
