my 69 chevelle currently only has the stock, 7/8" i think, swaybar in the front and nothing in the rear. i'm looking to upgrade to 1 1/4" front and 1" rear. while looking around, i found these.

what do you guys think...bad idea? it would obviously be cheaper than a hotchkis kit, but i'm worried about possible fitment problems. any advise would greatly be appreciated.

I'm running an 1 1/4" front sway bar with a 7/8" rear bar on my El Camino. I am very pleased with the handling ... oh and I'm running 166lbs/in rear springs so that helps a bit too.

This swaybar (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2457893873&category=33592&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&rd=1) will work on a Chevelle/El Camino. Check it out, I run one on my 70 chevelle ,72 El Camino and put one on Spawns22 67 Chevelle.

This swaybar should be 1.25" but I would check with the seller first if there is a enough time.

The current bid of $20.50 when I posted this is a very good price. When I sell one one Ebay I would get $75-$90 for one, plus the buyer paid for the shipping.

On that note, did SS el caminos, particularly 70-72, come with the rear sway bar standard with the F41 rear suspension package?

Brian, I've never seen one on a '70-'72, but I really don't know, my guess would be no, but then again JoeyB has one on his '69 and I believe that may be factory, he may see this thread and respond.

IMU that because El Camino's came with air shocks as standard equipment from the factory that they could not get the F41 suspension.

ac72rat, do you have an documentation with your vehicle to prove that the rear sway bar is original? What diameter is it? What diameter is your front sway bar? What engine originally came in your vehicle?

I knew I read this somewhere on here.If you go to the El Camino link on the TC homepage under El Camino facts it says no FACTORY installed sway bars because of their use as a hauler and the air shocks.
