Recently purchased a 78 monte carlo ( 355 SBC ) that was drag raced for a few years and then stored. Running a wet nitrous and they had mounted a heater core in front of the rad with the hoses running to the manifold in stock location. ???? I have never seen or heard of this before. Car has no heat ducts, A/C and I have no plan to drive it on the street. Track only, so I plan to pull this and plug the manifold, unless there is some old school trick here . Anybody ever seen this kinda set up.

Old School Trick:

Back in the day when there were Altered and Gas classes and the rules required that you have a radiator, there was no stipulation as to radiator size. So the trick was to use a heater core as a "radiator" to reduce the weight of both the radiator and the water in it.

Thought there was a reason, but I think I'll go with the alum rad . Thanks
